Job Summary:

The Environmental and Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations at both state and federal levels. This role also encompasses the development, training, and assessment of safety protocols across all facilities.

Description of Essential Duties:

  • Ensure all raw materials on-site have Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and that these are accessible in the SDS binder.
  • Review SDS to ensure employee awareness of safety requirements for product handling.
  • Monitor and review state and federal environmental and safety regulations, including pending changes, to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain and comply with all federal, state, and local environmental, safety, and Department of Transportation (DOT) reporting requirements.
  • Train new employees in environmental, safety, and DOT practices and provide retraining as necessary due to compliance changes.
  • Conduct safety training to meet or exceed EPA, OSHA, and DOT standards.
  • Perform regular inspections (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual) per OSHA, EPA, and DOT guidelines.
  • Assist the Corporate Director of Regulatory Compliance with required OSHA, EPA, and DOT reports.
  • Review and update environmental, safety, and DOT procedures following any incidents and develop mitigation processes.
  • Adhere to all quality, safety, and work regulations.
  • Manage the hiring, interviewing, and termination of employees as needed.
  • Conduct semi-annual performance reviews.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in Science or Environmental/Health/Safety preferred.
  • Experience: Three to five years in a manufacturing environment, preferably chemicals or coatings. Supervisory experience is helpful but not required.
  • Additional education in environmental and safety programs/procedures is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in using mathematical equations and understanding environmental documents.
  • Forklift certification is strongly preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook), ERP system, and other office machinery.
  • Ability to work well in a team and possess excellent team-building and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
