Perform a diverse array of set-ups based on experience of usually one or more years in the CNC department, working with minimal supervision. Meets or exceeds established set-up times based on repetition and skill acquired over time. Assists in training of CNC Set-up II’s and CNC Operators. Regularly performs all duties of a CNC Operator I when not assigned to set-ups.

Reads Job Travelers, verifying machines have a signed sample and current parts being formed match sample. Checks parts to customer print. Completes Daily Management Boards.
Reads & follows all set-up instructions & corrects or updates instructions for jobs which are not accurately or adequately documented. Can read & interpret prints.
Performs all operations required to set-up equipment, fixtures, & dies for all CNC machining centers & robotic trimmers without assistance. Completes first piece inspections & CNC set-up checklist.
Utilizes proper selection of tooling, cutter types, program adjustment/offsets, & controller settings.
Applies proper mounting & securing of tooling; aligning & securing of fixtures; and establishing reference points, setting stops & machine travel.
Manually cycles machine to check tooling, fixture, and/or work alignment, clearances, stops, etc. to program specifications, making adjustments to bring tolerances & finish requirements to specifications.
Understands G & M code commands.
Makes periodic operation checks to assure the proper set-up operations are in line with company requirements. Performs more advanced maintenance and troubleshooting.
Act as technical resource to address and resolve CNC set-up inquires and problems; analyze and resolve work problems; and assist other set-up technicians or operators in solving machine problems.
Assists in the training of CNC Set-up Operator II’s.
Drives continuous improvement in CNC set-up times and metrics.
Performs as a CNC Operator I or any other tasks as assigned by management.
1st shift hours: 7am – 3pm
2nd shift hours: 3pm – 11pm
3rd shift hours: 11pm – 7am (Sunday – Thursday)
