Manufacturing Supervisor

 

Role Summary:

First line supervisor of a production workforce. The job usually requires specialized training in supervision and 5+ years of job related training and experience, including experience of the work in the department, or equivalent. Under manufacturing leader guidance, flexes staff to constraints, assists with employee selection, reviews employee performance, and administers work rules. Responsible for productivity and quality management to the extent that it falls within the department control. Recommends equipment upgrades, staffing adjustments, process modifications and may recommend product or service modifications.

1st Priority – Safety

–         Ensures adherence to safety standard work

–         Drive 5S behavior

–         Pulls help chain from Safety and Compliance Manager as needed

2nd Priority – Quality

–         Ensures adherence to quality standard work

–         Drives improvements with the daily line execution routine and team level visual boards

–         Facilitates problem solving

–         Pulls help chain from Quality Manager as needed

3rd Priority – Delivery

–         Metric responsibility for hourly output per line or team

–         Drives improvements with the daily line execution routine and team level visual boards

–         Improves output by reducing the 8 great wastes within span of control

4th priority – Sustainability

–         Reduces waste with lean tools

–         Follows standard work so CI opportunities become apparent

–         Reduces variation with standard work – enables improvement

Education
–         High School or GED, some post high school education or training preferred

Experience and Skills
–         Minimum of three years of production and leadership experience

–         Proven work history with desire to promote

Other information

–         Domestic travel required

–         Required to perform other duties as assigned
